  • Great value

What drags it down

  • Nothing notable in this column.

The verdict

The value pick, and it isn't close. Doctor's Best uses the same well-absorbed chelated magnesium (glycinate/lysinate, the Albion TRAACS form) at 200 mg elemental per serving — the studied range — for around $0.20 a serving. It skips the third-party sport certification that lifts Thorne, which is the main reason it sits just behind it, but on dose and form it does everything right for a quarter of the price.

What the label actually delivers

200 mg of elemental magnesium from a fully-reacted chelate, clearly stated, with no blend hiding the number. The one catch is serving size: you take two tablets to get there, so a bottle empties faster than the count suggests. We already folded that into the per-serving price — it's still the cheapest way to hit a real dose.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants a genuine, well-absorbed magnesium dose at the lowest sensible price and doesn't need a sport certification. For most budgets, this is the default recommendation.
